Metrocare provides services to people with mental illness and developmental disabilities through four primary programs.
PROGRAMS
Adult Mental Health Services provides a full range of mental health treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to people with mental illnesses, particularly those with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Five outpatient clinics serve Dallas County, acting as the hub for the development of individualized treatment plans for each client. A range of services and supports, including Supported Housing, Supported Employment, and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams, are offered to support the individual living independently in the community. Additional specialized programs include a mobile crisis team, programs for the homeless, and a program for mentally ill offenders, providing specialized alternatives for people with mental illnesses in our community.
Child & Adolescent Services offers an array of services designed to meet the needs of children and adolescents experiencing severe emotional and/or social problems, as well as their families. Based on a "wrap around" model, Child & Adolescent Services provides programs in homes, schools, and day care centers, involving the people and supports already available in the child's life in order to create an integrated treatment program and better-functioning families.
Mental Retardation/Developmental Disability Services provides a complete range of services for people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities, including vocational services, supported employment, foster care services, and individualized supports for those living in the community.
Early Childhood Intervention Services provides care for infants noted at birth to have multiple developmental issues.
In addition, Metrocare serves as the "mental retardation authority" for Dallas County, authorizing services provided by 40 county providers to people with developmental disabilities.
