Metrocare is a community mental health and mental retardation center serving the residents of Dallas. Governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Dallas County Commissioners Court, the Center provides a comprehensive array of services and support for people dealing with the challenges of mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.

Established in 1967 as the Dallas County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority, Metrocare currently provides services to more than 23,000 individuals annually.
